Manager login fail without error message

Hello everybody,

I have installed modx-1.0.4. However, when I tried to login to the manager, it failed. And there is no error message. I put the correct username and password and click submit, but nothing happens. I am sure the login details are correct. When I purposefully entered the wrong password, I got an error message in javaScript pop-up. But nothing happens when the details are correct.

I click forget password to see what happens. Then it asks me to enter email and it sends email to the email account that was entered on installation. I receieve an email with link. Clicking the link takes you to the manager page, and asks you to login. The email says login and then change password in my account link of the admin section. How on earth can I get into the admin section if I forget password. Something is seriuosly wrong in this version. When I tried the modx-1.0.3, no such problem.

have you noticed that problem?

I just want to add that my hosting is by www.powweb.com. When I uploaded the same version of modx-1.0.4 to another website hosted by another company, there was no problem. I could login normally to the manager. So the problem is limited to www.powweb.com. During the install, every check came out OK except this message: Register_Globals is off: FAILED!

In other installs in the other website, Register_Globals was off too but it printed OK. Wierd. Can anyone shed light on this?

I am thinking to write to powweb hosting company but not sure what to ask. Please help if you can.

Thank you
rageh

The Register_Globals failure just means the Register_Globals is ON which is a very bad thing. I’m kind of surprised every time I run across a hosting company that still has it on.
