    Hi All,

Just finishing up the second site for my photographer friend.

    http://gti.websitewelcome.com/~wecphoto/index.html

Can you provide feedback on this one? Keep in mind that the large gap below the homepage slideshow is because he wants it well below the fold, it is not an errant css declaration. I hope you like it. Many Thanks to Temus, Goldsky and Sharkbait in helping me understand how to move forward with the galleries. It uses Easy2Gallery Module, with a Colorbox gallery embedded into pages. It was a fun site to develop.

I am specifically interested in your thoughts about how it worked on a mobile phone and also about load times.

    Thanks,
    Noah

      Hey noahlearner,

very nice, i like it a lot!

      *just some thoughts*
maybe you can use text instead of images for the horizontal top menu, it looks a bit blurred. ...and maybe you don’t need the slide-down effect for the submenu when you click on it, because it slides down right after the page refreshes. should there be an effect for the other submenus as well, or only for "Recent Work"? ( perhaps you could go with an accordion menu )

but as i said, all in all very nice.

      j

      *edit:
      with a Colorbox gallery embedded
is it a modified colorbox version without overlay?

        Hi,
Looks nice and loads okay for me. What did you use for your menuing and blog?
        Again, nicely done!

@Sharkbait Thanks for the feedback. The images are created via js, it is cufon, an alternative to sifr that is accessible, html + JS+ no flash= phone love. And the words are in the source code. I also wanted to go bolder on the navigation. I agree on the slide effect I will look at it. It is a bit superfluous. The colorbox is inserted into div#content-main instead of being absolutely positioned and overlaid over the rest of the content. It was the easiest for me to wrap my head around. I couldn’t get the slideshow(play and pause buttons) to work smootly in internet explorer. They seemed to make IE throw an error message that a script would make IE crash if it continues to run, so I just hid them with css. I look forward to your newest post that everyone retweeted today!

@mconsidine - Thanks for your thoughts. I used Cufon for the menu font. Wayfinder call on top right and on the side too. And I used a straight forward ditto /reflect implementation.

that’s pretty clever! never would have come up with that idea

another question ... you got Easy2Gallery calls placed on ressources like "Travel & Cuture", "Landscapes" etc. do you have to enter the gallery id in the calls on those pages by hand, or have you figured out a way to do it dynamically?

            thanks, j

@sharkabit- Oh you mean like how maxigallery automatically creates a folder that is named after the id of the page it was created on? No, I’m not that guy; I don’t know enough php for that. I would love that functionality though.

ps- what are some urls of sites you’ve built?

I’m getting "The requested URL /404.html was not found on this server" message.
