New personal hub - xmetal.me - and MODx is awesome

I’ve been meaning to do a personal site for years and never got around to until now, and my success using MODx on a freelance gig prompted me to employ it in this project. It impresses me that it can handle a complex layout and massive jQuery usage with no fuss at all. Sure, it’s not a "web for dummies" system, but if you have the know-how MODx is just stellar.

I particularly like how easy it was to "snippetize" a pretty snazzy CSS3/PHP/jQuery photo gallery approach right into the system. One simple call passing a directory and voila, you’ve got an awesome random-draggable-popupable gallery. Nice.

At any rate, feel free to check it out. http://xmetal.me

I love the effect where the image pivots to present the text!

very nice.
well, don’t you think you should limit the twitter list?
it slows the page a little bit.

anyway, 1 page website?

Why not? What else needs to be said on a personal site?

click on "Read More" under the flip images...initially i didn’t notice as well, because i liked flipping those images too much to realize there’s something else

*nice site btw.

The tweet script is returning a JSON with the data which is pretty speedy, but you are right, it’s not really necessary to load up 50 each time. I cut that back to 20 and it does get page loading snappier. I thought of that before but forgot to implement, thanks for bringing it up.

And yes, click Read More to get to more stuff.

wow....
