We recently launched a photo contest site, for Quaker Steak & Lube.
chickenize.com Using a default evo install, along with a semi-custom Maxigallery , Jot +Events for the comments, Anything Rating for photo rating and WebloginPE for the user management/login goodness. It also uses a heavy dose of PHX, to manipulate the navigation paths depending on registration status which makes for seamless user experience. All in a whopping 4 pages/2 templates and maybe a dozen chunks.
The best part is that the gallery admin is dead simple and occurs on the front end through a maxigallery gallery’s base management functionality, allowing the client to manage the entries, declare winners, and moderate comments without ever having to log into the back end.
Since this was the first time I had worked with these snippets, I want to thank Doze for all of the insight into modifying the maxigalley code, as well as AHHP for the great event addition to Jot. Not only does ModX kick a--, its developer forum does too!
