Hello there,
My name is Blair. I’ve been lurking around here for a while now and have even asked a few questions (thanks for the answers). With only 3 posts to my name, I figure I still have the time window to make an introduction.
After becoming proficient with HTML and CSS (and a little bit of PHP), I figured the next step was CMS/CMFs. I downloaded, collected and read about all of them. Wordpress, Drupal, Joomla, Textpattern, etc. I have them all installed on my MAMP installation. However, I’ve just never settled on one. Pieces and parts of each I understood, but there was always something fundamental I didn’t like about each one.
Wordpress does one thing easily and very well. Blogging.
Drupal seems to do everything, but not at all easily. And sometimes, not well.
Then I stumbled upon MODx. I have to admit, it was the fresh design and trendy green and purple design of the site that sucked me in (I am a sucker for the "web 2.0-ish" aesthetic). However, once I started reading about it (in particular, the Net Tuts tutorial) it really drew me in. What I love the most about it is how I can completely develop the way I’m used to in HTML and CSS and once I’m completely done with the site, it is about 98% copy and paste to bring my design in to a CMS.
I look forward to learning and asking questions and one day maybe being the one answering the questions.
Blair
