    Hi all.
Is there a recomended way to create a blog with modx?
    I’m playing with modx 1.0.4.

    I cam across this:
    http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Basic_Blog#CommentsBlog

But looking at the emphasised note in "snippets needed", it looks like the guide might be outdated.

    I also came across this:
    http://www.pogwatch.com/pkBlog.html

Has anybody tried this? Is it usable? Are there any particular problems with it?

Just curious, what’s the reasoning behind the choice for Evo?

Moving forward a lot of effort and attention will be going toward Revo.
The philosophy of MODx is freedom and flexibility so there is no preferred way to set up a blog (or news type content)

This is not for Evo but can be interesting:

        Hi Sinnut

        Why evo?
No deep attachment. But the last couple of times I looked at revo, I kept coming across cautions for using it in a production environment. And there seemed to be more collective experience in evo.

But I don’t see what I can’t look at revo for this purpose.

I don’t even know if there are any existing caveats for deploying revo over evo.

However, one thing I want want to avoid is investing a lot of time in learning one version of a product and then finding that it has limitations that another version doesn’t. But experience informs to be conservative when choosing web technologies.

        Thanks for that link.

Revo is now released, which may reduce your anxieties on that score. I’ve hardly looked at it yet - I’m still finding my way around Evo, after all!

Rather than pkBlog, I’d recommend you try PubKit, which can more easily be extended with other front-end input features, if you want to try this route. I know there’s at least one satisifed customer for PubKit out there!

If you want to keep installations and potential wrong roads to a minimum, you could first explore the route of creating a blog as a manager user in Evo, along with ManagerManager to create an easy environment for blog entry. I don’t think the demo install shows this off very well (it was never very clear back in the days of the NewsPublisher snippet, either).

Working on and with PubKit, one thing I have found frustrating is the difference between manager and web users, as I often want people to have facilities intended for both types in a single session. I believe there is no distinction between types of user in Revo, which may affect your choice.

              Hey guys.

I installed revo, and now I’m now walking through this guide:

              http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Creating+a+Blog+in+MODx+Revolution#CreatingaBloginMODxRevolution-GettingtheNeededExtras

At one point it gives this direction:

Then, go to the Context Access tab. Add an ACL (a row, basically) that gives this user group access in the ’mgr’ context, with a minimum role of Member (9999), and the Access Policy of ’QuipModeratorPolicy’

However, I can’t seem to find the "context access tab".
Has this been renamed? or am I just blind?

Edit a User Group, and it should be there.
