MODx-powered site nominated for a Webby

smarthistory.org was nominated for the Webby Award (category: education).

The site launched as a redesign last fall. 100% MODx-powered. Previously it was done with Wordpress, but the site grew too big and the handling/editing/managing became too tedious. Nothing against WP, but it was just not the right tool for the job - in the end it only kept running due to lots of proverbial duct tape

Yours truly was responsible for the whole backend mumbo-jumbo, i.e. CMS-aspect of it all. I’m proud to say that the editors love it. The site already got honored with an AVICOM award (an organisation that belongs to UNESCO) - gold in the "web" category.

If you got a minute to spare, please cast your vote for smarthistory.org:

(silly thing is, you have to register first before you see that page...)

I’m really not keen on awards of any kind, but I guess a Webby would be a nice way to show what MODx is capable of, and boost popularity. We’re currently 2nd in our category - I believe 1st place is definitely doable.

You can literally spend hours watching videos and listening to podcasts - art through the centuries, told in a fresh, modern way.

Great site. I will cast my vote for sure. Great work also That is a very cool timeline thinggy at the bottom of the pages. Is that a jQuery plugin or is it a custom setup?

This would be a great case for the MODx site
