Wow, what a relief. I had a programmer that was supposed to be coding the back end of a site for me. Unfortunately, I never saw anything getting accomplished. After the client finished getting together all the info, I asked the programmer again what was happening. I had the unfortunate job of getting him off the project.

I’m a bit of a MODx noob, but I’m learning more all the time. I posted in the forums looking for someone to help integrate the necessary functionality, and also emailed some people. Shane Sponagle of MODxGuru suggested Duncan Lock of Codeistry (http://www.codeistry.com) after I emailed him. Duncan suggested various methods of getting everything done, and we finished implementing everything tonight.

Duncan was a pleasure to work with, and integrated everything into the site. Unbelievable what can be accomplished in such a short time using MODx!!

Anyways, if you want to see the site, it is http://pinnacle-granite.com. Some information is still being uploaded and all, but the main elements of the site are there. Unbelievable what you can do with MODx, and in such a short time. (Design and some HTML/CSS was by me, but Duncan integrated all of the more advanced features, allowing Pinnacle to manage their content on their own).

P.S. After doing this site, I rolled a site in 5 hours. 5 other hours were spent on the design elements. Maybe not the best design in the world, but he asked that I keep the main elements of the original design in the new design, so I was kind of limited. Anyways, here it is:

An impressive achievement and smart-looking site. laugh
One thing that bugs me here (and increasingly on other new sites) is the width. The wrapper element is set to 1024px, which results in a horizontal scroll bar on my 1024x768 screen. There needs to be some allowance for the vertical scroll bar. Its width varies somewhat between different browsers, but it’s going to be at least 25px, I think. I suspect that designers in general are working on widescreen displays. lipsrsealed

Happy you got this resolved. Site looks and works good. Good job with the Flapjack Flack Jacket* site as well, it is much nicer than the original. With MODx you are allowed more time to focus on the details. And you are right, MODx rocks! grin grin grin

        * I need to drink more coffee before entering the forum, I seriously thought it said Flapjacks, maybe it was my hunger talking shocked

Thanks, and Shane, thanks as well.

I know what you are talking about (sort of - I know the issue exists) and I’ve been meaning on rewriting the CSS slightly to allow those extra 25px so the 1024w screens won’t have a tiny bit of scrolling. The CSS was written some 5 or 6 months ago, and the original spec sheet called for a 1024 design, but I’ve been planning on doing the edit. Only problem is, I need some time to get it done, as the individual display items may need to be adjusted as well. (The wonderful - and sometimes mildly frustrating - part about CSS is that it is cascading lol).

And Keith, if you notice, when I did the Flak Jacket site, I kept the width to 900px or so.

Having the content wrapper be 960 pixels is great as you leave a little room on the sides for laptop users etc. The math works great if you want three equal columns as well (or two columns with one being a sidebar.)
