I just finished up a site for my local Cub Scout Pack. Probably didnt need modX but I figured since I am diggin developing with it I figures what the hey. Still working out some of the kinks (the googleEvent list, need to create a class for templating the list) I have no idea how to do it but why not just dive right in, right. Lotta missing content, but I figured this as an ongoing spare time sorta thing. Basic install, nothing fancy other than googEvents snippet.

The fun part was working out the presentation layer, so its more an experiment semantic code writing, full width presentation etc... than anything...

Very nice, I like the grass footer how it overlays the content on a small screen. Great job. Funny, this is the second cub scout website I look at today, there was a tutorial screencast at csstricks on using WordPress as a cms and the example site was a cub scout site (yours looks much nicer, and why use WP for a CMS when you have modx) grin

THanks-I hope they like it, although its more for the parents. The pack calendar thing is a work in progress using GoogleEvents snippet. I figued I’d explore the goog API a little bit more as its easier for a non-techie to understand. The big calendar is just the embed, I will eventually test ChukkTrukks WIP googleEvents mod when I have some time. As far as the presentation goes like I said I was playing around with the idea of how to compositionally work something between a 24" " monitor and a laptop screen. Ive been seeing a lot of front end work that looks crazy teeny tiny on my workstation.

I’ve actually done the WP thing as well for one off stuff but since discovering moddy I pretty much put it to pasture. When decididng on a CMS to really sink my teeth into, looking at wp, joomla, drupal EE etc...ModX just writes damn good code. It makes it crazy simple to throw something down in a relatively short time frame, much like a wordpress default install, only, you know logical...

I like it a lot. especially the styling of the events list.

My only nit to pick would be the "Monthly Pack Calendar" link, which takes you to where you already are.

Nice. Now if Google would just fix the blasted cell-content overflow bug in their calendar code that’s been there forever . . . .
