    This is the beta version of the brand new website for Energy Crew Moving, a professional Toronto Moving Company. It’s first version was featured in the forum a few months ago and thanks to member’s feedback, it’s been completely reloaded. Yes, it’s proudly powered by MODx as you will notice at the bottom right end corner of the site.

    It’s still in beta mode and we’re fixing some bugs. Some users have reported a problem with the load time and it’s mostly related to the hosting company and they’re looking into it.

    Any feedback?

      Looks good. You are right the load times are crazy. I’d guess this related to MySQL. If you put the query calls into the code in comments you can see how long the SQL is taking.

      BTW who is the host? (PM me if you don’t want to publish it.) I have a number of good hosts in Toronto as well as a couple in the west if you are not averse to moving.

        Nice site. grin

        Only comment would be regarding the superimposed welcome screen on the home page. It should only show the first time you visit. When I return home it appears again and is a bit distracting.

            Very nice site. My only comment, and it’s not a biggie....in the FAQ pages, on hover, the titles of the Q’s change colour and are underlined (text-decoration: underline)...I instinctively clicked, my brain thinking it was a link (cause of the underline), which they obviously aren’t. But then again, I’ve been known to be slow grin

            Good job!

              The site is hosted by IX web hosting and if I had some power, I would have moved it away from those guys. My boss wants to limit any unnecessary down time and I guess I have to look into fixing this.

              Are you comfortable with Mysql queries? Where do how see the time it takes for the query to execute?

                To check execution time stick this comment at the end of you page some where then view source and you will see the output:
                <!--MySQL: [^qt^], [^q^] request(s), PHP: [^p^], total: [^t^], document retrieved from [^s^]. -->

                It will output something like:
                <!--MySQL: 0.0007 s, 0 request(s), PHP: 0.0351 s, total: 0.0358 s, document retrieved from cache.-->

                  Hi thanks for the feedback. The splash screen is being taken care of and hopefully it will be fixed in 24 hours so users are not hammered with annoying repetition.

                    Thanks for the tip smashingred. I just took a peak at the execution time and it seems a little better now. But I will have a word with those guys and if they screw this up, I will look into those Toronto guys you want to recommend me. Who are they?

                      The times seem better. I’m guessing there was a problem with the MySQL config that’s been fixed.

                      Re: Hosts. I’ve had okay experiences with WebServe.ca but if you are going Canadian, for service and server reliability I’d say Blacksun.ca is great. They aren’t the cheapest on month to month but if you are prepaying its all good and they really watch the servers. They are based in Saskatoon. They are availble good hours and have humans on staff.
