    Hi all,
I’m a designer that’s always focused on hand-coded sites with table-less layouts. This was my first time using a CMS, and I don’t know a lot of PHP. I had actually started out in SilverStripe, but lost patience when I realized they want you to organize your code into specific, non-semantic divs so that things will work. I take pains to write my code as cleanly and semantically as possible, with no superfluous divs, etc., so SS’s approach was not ideal for me. I switched to ModX & I’m so glad I did!! Most of the development has gone really smoothly; I’ve learned a lot, and there are only a couple of things I attempted that I haven’t yet managed to get working.

I love that it XHTML-validates. I get CSS validation errors, but that’s due to a choice I made to use Schillmania’s SoundManager2 -- for this site, it’s too essential to give up.

I’m very pleased with ModX, and plan to use it for any future projects in which my client says, "Is there any way I can update the site myself?" It provides great flexibility, and since I’ll always want to code my custom designs myself before I put them into a CMS, it’s really a perfect fit.

    Thanks,
    ST

Nice site. I like the textures. Well done.

The audio player is very cool, not seen that one yet. They sound pretty good to grin

Agree, very nice. I like the audio player too. Small and fast, and with good sound.

And I also like the a capella singing. I’m been doing that for many years my self.

Congratulations with the new site. smiley
I think, thererfor I am! But what I am, and why...?

The sound player is great! I’ve got a few sites to use it on right away. Very clean site. Nice job.

Did you have any troubles with the audio player?

Great audio player and awesome site. Keep up the good work. smiley

Our of curiosity, what about the audio player keeps the CSS from validating? Also what did you try to do that you couldn’t make working?

Thanks, all! So nice to hear! When you work alone, as I do, you forget how nice it is to discuss your projects with others. And, great to hear some of you are singers, as well. smiley

No, no real problems with the audio player. It took a little bit to get it set up right, just because I’m not an expert in Javascript. And, there’s one little glitch with it that I’m still trying to figure out -- it sometimes doesn’t load in IE. But it degrades to simple mp3 links, so it’s not a huge problem. Thank you so much! The CSS validation errors I get all seem to be from the playhead controls - for example,

              ul.playlist li:hover .controls .statusbar Value Error : cursor ew-resize is not a cursor value : ew-resize
              ul.playlist li:hover .controls .statusbar Value Error : cursor -moz-grab is not a cursor value : -moz-grab

There are 7 of these, and all have to do with the cursor property -- I haven’t used this before, so I’ve yet to understand what these styles control.

As to what I couldn’t get working...
              1. I tried to write a little snippet to convert a TV to an unordered list... but while i could read the TV, i couldn’t get the value using getTemplateVariableOutput.
              2. I installed the ManagerManager plugin, but most of the rules I set aren’t being followed.

              Thanks again, all. smiley

                Nice site!

Did you use multiple templates for this?

Thank you! Yes, I did use multiple templates... each of the four pages was designed with a different layout (ie. main content area had different widths on each page), so I did end up using a separate template for each. I also created a basic page template, which isn’t currently in use.
