Hi all, this is my first MODx site - which has three versions in 1 as there are offices in 3 countries: australia, new zealand and the united kingdom.

I made a selector so you can jump between each country’s site, which is at the top right of each page.
Its pretty much a basic set up with a just a few extra snippets in there - just getting my feet wet you know. I come from a self taught php background, so im still trying to get to grips with how i can hook in and customise the functionality using MODx. This time i just stuck in the snippets and made a few calls.

However i would like to say, that once i got to grips with the concepts - setting up this site was a lot easier than i thought!

Looking forward to the next project and learning a bit more about how it works and i can work it... but the new version is coming out soon so I’m still wondering should i wait for it to come along, or stick with the tried and tested?

Anyway, just wanted to share with you all what i had done and thanks for all the help in the forums.

Oh yeah, and the site is at http://tinyurl.com/6pe4pc (sorry just dont want the link indexed!)

Very nice site, a good use of Flash, which I usually don’t care for.

Well, basically, that’s how you do it; just stick the snippets in there and make a few calls wink

I still haven’t been able to make heads nor tails of the new "Revolution" version, but that’s certainly not to be taken as a minus for it, rather for my slowness in uptake (it takes me years sometimes to get a grip on something), and that I can’t really say much about it one way or another, except that it is really impressive. There are plenty of people with quicker abilities than mine who will be able to advise you on it.

The problem I have with it is based in my also being self-taught, with no background in theory. The more questions I ask, the more confused I get because I simply don’t speak the same language (yet!). It takes me back to the years when I struggled to read the books and magazines and didn’t understand 90% of what was being said. My first computer had no hard drive and two 5-1/2 inch floppy drives, and I was lost at "insert data disk in drive B", what data disk?! So I’ve gone back to kindergarten, as it were, and once I understand PHP’s object model better, and design patterns, on to pdo -> xpdo, then it will start to come clear.
