My friend liked what he heard about MODx (and saw with my own site), so he wanted to move over. I had to use a combination of Ditto, Jot, and some custom snippets I made to get the job done, but it turned out spectacularly in the end, IMHO (looks very close to how it looked in their original CuteNews-powered template). It’s still in a testing folder because the old news has to be imported, but
This was my first time using either script (especially Ditto, which I had issues trying to wrap my head around earlier), but it’s quite amazing how detailed they are (especially Ditto).
The cool thing is that he’s fine with me using this elsewhere, so it’s gonna power my own site’s news system (we are currently using a MyBB-MODx solution).
Basically, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped me out, with big kudos to dev_cw for my three or so Ditto-related topics alone.
(This is why I <3 MODx. It’s not like on other support forums, where they go nazi if you don’t understand part of the syntax of something. But you guys don’t hand-feed people, just merely guide someone to where to look, so they can learn how to use it. Kinda like the old saying, "Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime".
