    Hello,

    I have just finished my first MODx site and wanted to say how impressed I am with this CMS and the incredibly active and very helpful user community.

    In particular I take my hat off to:
    +Shane (dev_cw) for going above and beyond in helping me create the skewed-thumb-box-subnav used throughout the site.
    + And to Chuck (ProWebscape) for helping to clarify the whole chunk-snippet-tv thing.

    There were so many times that I got stuck while learning to use MODx in building this site - and whenever I did, I’d post a question (or 10) in the forum and soon after receive a prompt, constructive and usable response / solution.

    So thank you Mr and Mrs MODx for creating such a great CMS and for fostering such a helpful and brilliant user community.

    I will definitely use MODx on future projects.

    Anyway, thanks again and here’s the site:

    Yours suitably impressed!

      That is excellent!

      Well, except for the noise...although I have to say this is probably the first site that I didn’t immediately leave when it started making noises at me. Not too obtrusive, and the rest of the site was worth the small annoyance.

        Looking good!
        How did you find implementing e-junkie and why did you choose it over foxy cart or treasure chest?

          Nice site/design.

          For the cart I’d recommend to give the "checkout" a more emphasized design. The PayPal button is a button like an advertisement and for inexperienced users this could be a bit confusing. Or double the checkout by a second checkout button or a link at this word (and the font size should be a bit increased on this phrase generally). Most terminations of online purchases result in misunderstanding the workflow, not finding the right way or important information. All irritation generates an amount of uncertainness. Too much is resulting in stopping purchase.
          Imagine you are in a supermarket, your basket is filled, you want to go home and than the question: where is the checkout? You find many boards pointing to payment options but it seems the checkout isn’t there. What would you do?

            Looks very good, well done. The noise is to cute to be annoying.

            Glad I was able to help, and by helping you I actually helped myself since I needed the exact feature on my last project and already knew exactly what to do grin

              Hello,

              Thanks for the feedback.

              Exactly - my thinking was that the cuteness of the sound alleviates the obtrusiveness a bit - its just a bit of humour - if the flash didn’t restart on every new page load I would have put a mute function in.

              @sottwell:
              Thanks for that. Sound once every 10 seconds works for me - first time I’ve used sound actually - figure it works with the theme (not like its a corporate site) and will appeal to the target market.

              @bunk58:
              E-junkie was a little quirky with regards to discount / voucher codes and their flash admin system and also with product options and communicating the full info to the buyer but all in all relatively easy and quite flexible with the way product info could be laid out on screen. Excellent value for $5 a month.

              TresureChest seemed to just miss the mark for us - the bb site features products with a couple of different flat rate shipping rates within Australia - on posting in the forum it appeared that there is only a one size fits all freight option with TC? Quoting someone familiar(!!): "Without some major modifications Treasure Chest works with a single shipping charge by product." I also wanted to layout the different colourways / sizes of the same product on each relevant page and I couldn’t find a nice way to do it with TresureChest.

              FoxyCart would have been the number one choice but at the time of building the site it did not support Website Payments Standard - which is the only PayPal option currently available for merchants in Australia - apparently they have it on the list though.

              @rasc:
              great suggestions. Agreed - that E-junkie button was confusing. I customised the checkout button which looks much better and more consistent now with site theme. A link does not appear to be possible in the cart so will leave it at a better button - thanks so much - much appreciated for a kick in the right direction.

              @dev_cw:
              Great minds think alike then - just that you did all the thinking!! You are a generous genius Shane - thanks again.

              All the best.
