The main design is rectangle based with dark borders and clear colors. Contrary to this design the navigation buttons have rounded corners and gradients. Its an optical contradiction. I think it’s better setting a blue bar at the top of the page containing the nav items delimited left/right by borders. And set the image border also to #0066cc.
So a blue navigation bar with #0066cc borders separating items?
I would prefer to insert the logo without the black box. Maybee you could insert a white horizontal bar, 100% width, on which you could place the logo and the Slogan. The navigation-bar could be either on top or below the white logo-area. Also increase the margin before the title ("Welcome to...") and the credits ("Rob Archer, All ...").
Try a blue bar with #003399, font and borders with color #e6f1fb (background-color of page content).
Logo without border/background. Thin blue border for image.
Right I’ve done the menu bar and increased the margins, What do you think? I think the logo should be made a bit bigger. Also the image place holder is going to be replaced with a photo so I haven’t changed the border.
What do you think? Is that big enough without pushing the content down the page too much?
