Internet Radio Station Website - Now Live - UPFrontRadio.com

http://www.upfrontradio.com

Brief info about the site

UPFrontRadio.com is an Internet radio station streaming 24/7, playing the best in dance, oldskool, garage, house , dnb and more!

It is a fully fledged MODx site, all templated and chunked up, everything is easily customizable thanks to the powers of Modx.

Whats been used / done

Four areas of the site use Ditto! The News, Events, Downloads and Podcast sections.

For the downloads and soon to come Podcasts area I use ditto with the vid cast plug in as seen here - http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,11108.0.html

On the homepage I used the &TplFirst parameter of ditto to highlight the latest news and download smart hey?

Jot has been used to create a guest book type thing, I have integrated a PHPbb Forum too

I used Wayfinder for the menu and menu highlighting

On subpages i have added some more dynamic elements which are held in by a template variable to call individual chunks to the sidebar per page

I have also integrated some shoutcast stats and stream checking functionally to all subpages. for eg - to say which DJ is currently playing.

All URLS are re written using friendly urls

Very cool custom shout manager to send messages to the DJ’s

Integrated RSS feeds and an iTunes feed for podcasts

Whats to come

Im looking at adding more interactivity to the site, and as it grows we will be introducing some banner system into it etc, Polls module.

Big thanks to modx for allowing me to create such a dynamic site in no time atall

Any ideas / comments?

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask, also if you have any ideas i would love to hear them.

Nice site. BTW, for your Forum link in your post, it’s /forum, not /forums.

Cheers matey *edited*

Looking good, one thing in IE6 there seems to be a problem with your last footer image, see the attached screenshot.

Also if I were you I would remove the hidden text at the bottom.

Is this footer issue only on the homepage? ill look into it, only 6 % of our visitors are ie 6 ! but thats no excuse.

hidden text just untill google cashes document hehe

cheers for that mate

Very cool site. Well done. Thanks for documenting what you did, I always enjoy that. I bookmarked it to go back and listen to some music later

I could document it more! eg how i set all page variables up, and include some screenshots of my page / chunk / TV structure, i know that would certainly help people to get started. as i have basically learnt from scratch

Any way , nice one for comments mate

I like the bold, confident design - spot on for the target market I’d say - and the forum integration is great. Good work.

Cheers, another thing i forgot to mention is that a big alert style banner comes up Automatically each and every friday to remind the users we live stream from a night club that night

The footer problem is same on all pages, I only use IE6 at work, its a real pain using it!
