Hello all,
Have just completed my first modx project!
Had to create a blog / advice area that would also contain some brochureware content that would be content managed.
Considering I didn’t have a clue about modx at the beginning of the project, I’m glad that I’ve managed to achieve what I wanted apart from a few small compromises. I’m sure I will work out a solution to these compromises when time prevails, however I had a really short time scale to get this blog up and running.
The blog is located at
http://beautytalk.feeluniue.com which has been designed to walk hand in hand with the main site
www.feelunique.com.
There are a few things that I couldn’t work out how to execute:
Is there a way a child could work out what the parents friendly alias name is? I have various articles which state what section they are related too (each article summary has a date, then what section the article is from at the top of the container). I had to achieve this by using multiple snippets containing all the same html and placeholders, apart from the section name. I want to pull in article data from Talk Products & Talk Advice on to the homepage, however my ditto call will only take one template, meaning that it will state all my articles are from the same section, unless I find a solution to the above.
Here is the snipped code I’m using - is there some code or placeholder i could replace "Talk Products" with so my snippet could dynamically work out what section it belongs too? :
<!-- summary box -->
<div class="summarybox">
<div class="top"></div>
<div class="middle">
<p class="date">[+date+] - Talk Products</p>
<h2><a href="[~[+id+]~]" title="[+title+]">[+title+]</a></h2>
<div class="summary">
<p>[+introtext+]</p>
</div>
<p class="cta"><a href="[~[+id+]~]">Read full article</a></p>
<!-- links panel -->
<div class="links">
<p><strong>Article filed in: </strong>[+tagLinks+]</p>
<ul>
<li class="comments"><a href="[~[+id+]~]#comments">Comments: [[Jot? &docid=`[+id+]` &action=`count-comments`]]</a></li>
<li class="technorati"><a href="http://technorati.com/faves/?add=[(site_url)][~[*id*]~]">technorati</a></li>
<li><a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url=[(site_url)][~[*id*]~]&title=[*pagetitle*]¬es=[*introtext*]" class="delicious">Add to del.icio.us</a></li>
</ul>
</div>
<!-- end links panel -->
</div>
<div class="bottom"></div>
<div><hr class="divider"/></div>
</div>
<!-- end summary box -->
This would also fix my problem with my archive, as this is only archive data from one section because of the above.
I had problems getting tags to show up on an article page. I used the tagging screen cast example in the ditto support site. Anybody else had this problem? I also had problems outputting all tags used in my TV in a nice list (like one of the panels on the right hand side).
Appreciate all the help that I’ve received. Defiantly in a better position to take on my next modx project!
Best regards,
Warmbeat
