The Seattle Cruiserheads is the very first site I have done using MODx.

It is still in the early stages with much content and user involvement still to come, but its starting to look like something.

At first I was very intrigued with MODx, then very frustrated, and now feeling much better with my learning etc. The hard part is that this has been an on-again-off-again project with periods of down time during the process.

I still have a ton of questions and look forward to building more MODx based sites.

    Cheers,

    Max

Looks pretty good on Firefox 2.0.0.11. Though I expected to see at least one bumper sticker that read, "No, it’s not a Jeep!"

        Looks good.

Just one finickity remark: I feel that maybe the header should fit the full width (or the width fit the header) as it feels a tad disjointed.

Other than that, it’s clean, functional and looks fine in IE6+, Firefox 2.0.0.11, Opera 9.25 and Safari 3.0.4 (on Windows).

Nice site, cool design. I always wanted to have a cruiser (or a Bandeirantes as we call them here in Brazil). Does Toyota still make them? They stopped building them here a few years ago, when the Land Rovers moved in and took over the market :’(

I like the calendar in the site, does that use a snippet (perhaps ditto) or is it a static feature? How to get the big red X on past months? Very interesting grin

            Thanks to All,

I will take a look at that header. I was concerned that making it full width would make the head too large. If I narrowed the page then I reduce the width of the content (have a bunch of sized photos already.) But its still a work in progress done in my spare time. I think the site will grow well, thanks to MODx, and sure to be a good resource for the club etc. Of course there is zero money involved here.

As to the Bandeirantes: shame about Toyota discontinuing them. They had so much DNA with the all time classic FJ40. Much of the world (not the USA though) now gets the 70 series Land Cruiser which are really nice. Still the absolute "golden age" for 4x4’s was the mid to late 1970’s, before the word SUV and cup holders were invented.

I looked at some of the dynamic calendars and none really appealed to me. So this calendar is all CSS. Once set up its very easy to edit. I edit the raw code and not with a rich text editor. The big red X is a background image given to one of the month classes.  I have classes for the month, dates, host, address etc, the whole month is wrapped in a div and presented with floats. I use a "clearfloats" class to create the rows. Pretty simple really.

            Thanks,

            Max
