Hey,
just handed over
Winston Salem State University National Alumni Association to the client.
Some of the snippets I used, adapted or made include:
A rotating banner at the top of the homepage.
Randomly adds 7 sponsors to the right hand side. WSSU link and image will always be at the top. I created a chunk for each sponsor and a snippet that randomly grabs a number of those.
The four boxes content is also depcited by grabbing the data from the news, events, sponsors pages and a template variable for the appreciation, whereby the title can be changed to anything the client thinks people need to know.
I’m also using Easy Newsletter for the newsletter, Poll & Voting module (slightly changed so that each user can only cast one vote, as the user has to be logged in).
The amazing work of Kylej in the form of Wayfinder, Search, and the downloads (which is restricted using the FileDownloadPlugin).
Most of the features made available by Scotty D. and his webloginpe snippet. I tweaked a couple of the functions to include automatically generating a username to tie in with the current system they are using.
I’m using a simple E-Junkie setup for the shopping cart solution. The client wants to use that for the time being, although I have suggested a Foxycart solution in the near future. I’ve started using FoxyCart on a couple of other sites with more things up for purchase, and fallen in love with it. The fatfreecart solution, however, works well (imo) for this.
To allow the client to upload images by using HTML Slide Show editor
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx
for ease of use. it generates a folder containing all the images. The client uploads it to a specific folder and a link is automagically generated to each default.htm and the first 4 thumbnails are generated by using a snippet.
Most of the "smart stuff" has been done in a web user restricted area so it is invisible to most of you, unless you happen to be a subscribed member to the above association
All the best,
Taff
