I just launched my site yesterday. Coming off WordPress as my CMS, I completely moved everything to MODX, and its such a dream.
It took roughly 3 month to get this site to where it now, but it’s still a work in progress since not everything is finished yet.

MODX is the best CMS I’ve tried - so easy anyone can manage it which is why it’s the choice for all of my clients websites.

Check out my site, any comments, suggestions or critiques are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Rich

Interesting site, was able to remember some old films I had forgotten about. Seems to have quite a bit of content.

The empty/gray space to the right of the banner above the header bothers me a bit and gives me the impression of unevenness.
I don’t think that the search worked since it took me o the home page rather than giving results.

there is a lot I like on the site but I agree the advert at the top is disrupting the flow

Also as a site for rare DVS etc, I cannot help wondering is the use of grey as background colours could have been different. When I think of rare movies I am not sure red and grey would have been my first colour choice but of course its just my opinion...

I know some of the of the site is spotty, the advert was thrown up there - I need to style it so the grey isnt so apparent.
The search piece I am still getting together, I shold prob remove it for now.

As far as the red/grey combo - it was the colors I had been using since the sites beginnings,so I just kept going with it.

          Thanks for the input.

I like the red/gray, it has a bit of retro feel to it. On the other hand, the white text on top of the light gray navigation is a bit hard to read, low contrast, and the red hairline vibrates a bit on the background.

Did you write all the content? there is a lot of info in there.

My brother writes 90% of the content, I help maintain some of the data, otherwise I developed and designed it. The site going on I think 3 years now so it’s been built up a lot.
The forum is quite active too which is where most of the traffic is held.

Some of the content I am pulling from Amazon, and some of the news on the side is from RSS feeds.

Hey Sandman, your site has a nice look and it is an excellent idea! I think I may be viewing things in a smaller resolution than most (1024 x 768) so some of the buttons looks pretty huge, but otherwise, I think your site is nice.

I wanted to actually ask you a couple of questions regarding the site vis-a-vis traffic and other things(webmaster to webmaster). When you get a chance , could you please PM me if you don’t mind? smiley Good work!
