This site has a long history. It started as a few pages on another site that was running Wordpress. I split it off, but initially kept it on WP, then moved it to Hyperlatex + custom scripts (because I wanted a printable version as well at the time).

I moved it to Modx a few days ago.

There is nothing technically clever or special about the site, but it took me very little time to write the snippets I needed to get the functionality I wanted: i.e., it is a good example of how easy it is for someone who knows a little PHP to get Modx to do what they want (e.g. the related links and categories). It also let me keep my urls unchanged (unlike Drupal, for example, which would have forced me to drop the trailing slashes).

Anywhere, here it is: home page of Money Terms and a typical content page.

Thank you Modx devs! You have provided me with what is easily the best tool for the job. I have blogged about it and will do so again (it might get some of the Wordpress users who visit to look at other platforms wink )

Thats a cool site. Happy to see you were able to quickly port it over to MODx. The more time I pend with MODx the more I love it.

Question, All the data is directly in the database and not using MODx documents. Correct?

Thanks, glad you liked the site.

The pages are Modx documents. I modified my scripts to produce pages with no extraneous HTML, and then used Modx’s HTML import function.

This left me without the related links and categories. I added template variable for these. I considered writing a script to import the data, but, because I was dissatisfied with automatically generated related links on the old version of the site, I decided to redo them by hand. It took me a lot longer than writing a few simple Modx snippets and templates did, but it also improved navigation quite a bit, so it was worth it.
