    Hey!
Working on this new site for a client, I feel like I’ve been in a rocky relationship with MODx but we managed to work the thing through, ha!
Anyways this is the site I’m almost done with: http://freakbeatrecords.com/new/

ANY feedback would be greatly appreciated, design or otherwise. Also will my site go to hell if move the whole thing to the root directory??

    good night and good luck

      Nice Design.
I like the color scheme and the 33’s and 45’s popping out of the top and bottom are kitch as hell. The overflow/scrolling content area is interesting.

      Nice work, thanks for sharing.

Nice site, well done. My only observation, totaly subjective, is that the content text could be a slightly larger font size.

Just currious, whats problems are you having with your relationship with ModX?

          Thanks guys/girls!
To dev_cw, I had problems with the CMS since the projects inception. It’s a new CMS and the lack of tutorials didn’t help but once I got over the learning curve MODx kicked butt.

          Cheers!

I like it! Very readable and cross-browser usable, and good use of whitespace. The best designs have a simple and functional aesthetic, in my opinion.

Personally I would ditch all of the Dreamweaver scripts and use CSS for your rollovers (you can preload images with CSS easily just by placing them at the end of the page with display:none). And I would change the structure of your menu link code a bit to make it work for text/cell phone browsers and be a bit more semantic. Consider using a <ul> list instead of just loose links, and make sure that the text for those links is in there somewhere (if you don’t want to use link title tags so as not to interfere with your snazzy tooltip script, make sure that the images have alt tags).

Another thing you might consider is using absolute positions for your divs so that you can bump the content up towards the top of the page (which improves search engine rankings a little). I think you could probably do that pretty easily with this layout. I usually end up floating everything myself, but a little voice in the back of my head always tells me I’m being lazy.

bout the only thing I can think of is to adjust your bottom background to adjust to 1024...dual scrollbars are annoying, and its ever so slight. Probably could just lose 10-20px off the image and make it non scrollable

other than that, it looks good man....but you may want to put a ’coming soon’ page as well for the ’for sale’ link, rather than just a tooltip
