    Just went online, my last MODx powered website built for a small business specialized in importing/exporting exotic fruits and vegetables :
    http://sworld.com

    Content is not entirely finished but the client needed the website to be online anyway thus here it is !

    Even though it has not come easy - lots of never-ending modifications along the way + low budget is not the easiest of equation to solve (and I won’t do it again) - it’s a simple website, the main item is a catalog (thanks Ditto and TVs !) and a calendar (hand built - would have prefered doing it with Ditto) to inform clients of the availability of products.

    The website also uses extensively the DirectResize plugin (great work alphanono) to manage auto-resizing the pictures fed by the client (FYI I’ll be handling translating in english the plugin’s doc very soon).

    I usually don’t say this but I need to make it clear there are many things I would have done differently had modifications been granted any additionnal budget. I had to deal with the fact (I was too deep into it to go back) and get the best out of very little, which involved some quick and dirty choices I am not happy with (especially when layout repeatedly changed @client request).

    Anyway, it’s still the first website where I used jQuery to provide visual effects. Also the first one which has a flash intro (I hired someone for that). The Flash is embedded thanks to swfobject.

    About jQuery effects : I am very much aware Safari suffers from a very nasty "jumping" effect and I am not done solving this one (I have read intensively the jQuery mailing list but no luck so far : I must be doing something wrong most probably). Opera just seems locked like js is disabled. IE6 also has an issue though it’s much lighter and IE7 is doing well. I wouldn’t know about Konqueror (if someone can provide feedback).

    If you see any (other) outstanding issues please tell me !
    Thanks smiley

      This is how it looks like in Opera 9. I must refresh the site before it turns up correct. And then it’s really nice.
        I think, thererfor I am! But what I am, and why...?

            @Sylviaticus : Funny, Opera9 for Mac doesn’t behave this way at all !
            I’ll check about the reason for this, thanks for the capture smiley

            @Zi : thanks for the appreciation !

            @Aour : jQuery has the following override to avoid the famous $ conflict (they call it namespace, there is also a namespaced version of mootools it would seem, but jQuery has it built in)

            [tt]var $j = jQuery.noConflict();[/tt]

            I used $j but you can set whatever you want...
            then you use $j instead of $ and you’re done smiley

              Sorry to give you bad news, I’ll chech the site with Opera on other machines to see if there is something wrong with mine. I just wanted to show you another capture from Opera 9 (in Firefox 2 and MSIE 7 everything is OK).

              Windows Vista, Opera 9.02

                  On the product pages, I only get one picture to the smoothgallery and then lot’s of empty ones..

                    Yes, Doze right on target.

                    As I said the client wanted the website online though there are few things to finish.

                    I have used simple image TVs and the template has three images in it no matter what. I intend to build a Ditto call with a template so that the image list is dynamically generated and it will solve it. I have thought of MaxiGallery when starting but seemed totally overkill, thus I stuck with simple SmoothGallery.
