Well, being a Mac Software site where google analytics says that < 15% of my visitors are using IE (not including a temporary surge of visits from this post), and after trying for several hours to get it to work in IE (for what point? I don’t know) I gave up and put a temporary ThickBox window to be displayed in an IF IE conditional comment.
I think I will just go back to a javascript alert that says:
PirateMachine is no longer supporting Internet Explorer.
We strongly recommend Mozilla FireFox if you insist on using Windows.
thanks,
PirateMachine Software
and then do a window.location to
http://mozilla.com.
It’s not that Windows users are not welcome at piratemachine.org, its just that IE is to much of a pain to code for when the big 4 Mac browsers (Safari, FireFox/Camino, Opera, and OMNI) work great and FireFox windows displays the page beautifully.
Again, as I mentioned above, it’s a Mac software house and my analytics put me in the cat bird seat of not having sufficient motivation to make stylistic sacrifices for the sake of second rate software.
thanks for the tips that the ThickBox isn’t working, I will go to an ordinary JavaScript alert.
