Hi everyone, thought I’d show you all a site I’ve made using modx -
http://pr4qld.org. The website is a (major) part of a campaign myself and some likeminded people are running to get the parliament of the state of Queensland in Australia to be elected by Proportional Representation, a system that is designed to ensure that if a party gets say 15% of the vote, they make up 15% of the parliament, 60% of the vote gets 60% of the representation, etc. A kind of obvious way of doing things, but not how it’s done in most of Australia, the US, Canada, etc!
But enough of that guff! Here are the technical bits I know you want to know

I’ve actually used a decent amount of snippets in the creation of this site. The blog page uses Ditto and Jot, as does the "latest news" box on the side of the template. The Media section uses FileDownload, the "Get Active" page, "Contact Us" page and "send to a friend" section all use eForm. The Mailing list section uses KoopsMailinglistX (or whatever it’s called

). And of course, WayFinder for the menus. Soon I’ll be adding a better way for me to post to the blog (I currently just log into the back end, right click and create a new page to add to the blog) so that will require another snipper, and I’ll be making an online petition also using Jot.
I think ModX is really cool, and I love the way everything works together! The snippets working with plug ins, plonking stuff in placeholders which are in chunks, I really get a kick out of stuff like that! My one complaint is documentation - I think the documentation out there for modx itself and the snippets could be much better. But hey at least the snippets work!
Let me know what you think!
Adam.
