    Hello to all!

I have just learned (somewhat) and transferred my static site to MODX!

I am looking for opinions (good and bad) about everything with it. This site is for the fire department that I work for part-time as the IT director, website admin, SQL programmer, etc.

I would value any opinions on it for design, layout, etc.

This site is anticipated on going live in the next two weeks, so any advice, help, etc. would be greatly appreciated. It is validating great and this is my first ’big’ site since learning xhtml/css. This is also my first attempt with MODX.

    Thanks in advance!

I think the site looks great. Nice and clean and I didn’t come across anything major. Only two things came to mind. Since the header is centered, why not center the footer to create balance on the site design? Maybe have the links on one line and the copyright notice on the line below it (this might just be a personal preference). Secondly, I don’t know all that much about bots that harvest e-mail addresses, but I would imagine that it looks in the html code and grabs what is after the "mailto:" tag which has the actually email address that you are trying to obfuscate with "unionkyfire [at] fuse [dot] net." If you are really worried about it, you might want to use something like this:

      http://modxcms.com/Email-Link-Obfuscator-604.html

Which obfuscates it in the source, but allows it to be human readable and still clickable at the same time.

        Thanks for the input!

I had forgotten to center the footer, and will change it up a little.

Also, I had been thinking about doing away with the email addresses and just going with links to the contact form in order to prevent the spam harvesters altogether. Plus, that would make it cleaner so as to have the web user not worry about trying to remember the email address, or plug it into their email program.

        Thanks again!
