Lektriq - Graphics & Web Design website

This website is the product of several hundred redesigns over the past few years(really), and until now never got off my local testing server.

I have been doing Web work for the past 6 years or so, but this is the first time I have been happy enough to actually put up a site to advertise myself (how come it’s so easy to make one for someone else?) technically/creatively. With MODx it finally seemed like the right system had come along so...

After a few months of playing around and the last month really getting down to it:

Lektriq Graphics & Web Design

There are a few rough edges here and there - still needs CSS testing in IE 6/7, but it’s pretty much there apart from the lack of work in the Portfolio.
Only uploaded to the live server in the past hour so may still have a few server-teething issues.

I would just like to say after a very enjoyable (and ridiculously productive) few months playing with MODx -
Thankyou MODx!

I love your color choices and the style of your imagery.
nice work! Thanks for sharing.

Heh. Shows that there’s no accounting for taste! I didn’t care for it at all, found it chaotic. Not to complain or suggest you do it any differently. If you like it, that’s what matters.

Nice site man!...

MODx now it has a place in our hearts for being one of the fastest, easiest and most flexible ways to bang out craft a dynamic, content-managed website.

"bang out" ... it is keeping me ROFL.

Thanks for sharing!

regards.

I for one found that this was a clean design. The only thing I would change is the green you’ve picked for titles and embedded graphics : it’s a bit out of place (too bright, but hey I am a Mac user maybe it’s better on a PC) compared to all the soft colors you’ve set for the rest of the site. Not sure I would have offset the logo (you can see this on wider screens), but maybe would have centered it, but this is pure detail here.

Other than that, a clean design.

Thanks for all the comments.

Re: davidm: the green colour:
Yeah I’m on a Mac too... are you using one of those ultra-bright iMac/Cinema displays? Going to tone down the green in the next few revisions. I will be the first to admit that I am not Mr. Colour Scheme, if it was up to me everything would be black!

Re: sottwell: the chaos:
Yup, I recognise the chaos bit. Luckily chaotic is fairly prevalent on the Web, so at least I won’t look too out of place! The next redesign will hopefully fix this.

...

Think I am going to embark on the redesign for something slightly more unified in January/February with a better colour scheme. have learnt so much over the past few months that it will neeed a re-architected site to hold it all.

...

Anybody found IE 6/7 holes? Thinking about getting a VNC account at http://www.browsercam.com/ for IE testing later this afternoon.

are you going to make this layout/template available for the modxcms community? i love it...

@sir_thomas
I don’t think I will be making the layout/templates as a whole available to the community at the moment, when I redesign I may.
If you are interested in any specific areas of the design feel free to email/PM me and I’ll be happy to help you out.

Looks very nice or even ’web 2.0’-ish, to speak with the annoying buzzword, wouldn’t be my choise, but I think it’s suiting your company pretty well.

Nice to see you are in cssmania gallery

:-)
