Just want to introduce myself shortly:
Name: Andreas
Profession: Software-Engineer (Java/Web)
Country: Germany
Just a few words about my connection to CMS and why I’m using ModX:
I’m mostly creating intranet/web-applications for BMW and Daimler Chrysler, so I always had to do with webdesign.
In my rare free time I used to manage a website for my
soccer-club. In the beginning I started with plain HTML although I did some ASP and PHP in internships while I was studying computer sciences. (I couldn’t afford webspace with mysql and php in that time.) After a few years I switched the site to a CMS (Xoops) which was (IMHO) not very flexible. But for me it was a big gain although I always had trouble with the templates.
Then I started to get more interested in content management systems because I had to evaluate a CMS for the company I’m working at. We finally chose Joomla which was still called Mambo at that time. But we soon noticed that it was too complex and to circumstancial for us. So our company now uses self developed mini-cms for new product-sites which is totally sick IMHO.
It was half a year ago when I had to create a site for a soccer tournament and I decided to have a closer look on every open source cms I could find. So I visited www.opensourcecms.com where I finally found a link to ModX (after checking out a few other cms).

The flexibility and usability impressed me and so I decided to use this site for my little
project. As a base I used a template by Andreas Viklund (Andreas01).
Currently I have nearly finished a
commercial website for my hometown (a village). The link will be working in a few days. But you can preview it
here. I actually was able to build that site in only 2 days in my sparetime but ModX can take the credit for that.

Ok design is not fully done yet... (based on Andreas01 again)
So far I have two other commercial sites in the pipeline although I did not even plan to do such thing.

I definately wouldn’t spend my rare time on these projects without a simple and fast possibility to build such sites.
Hope that wasn’t too boring for you to read.
To cut a long story short: I really like ModX!
P.S. At the moment a friend of mine is trying to convince the "Sparkassenakademie" that they should use ModX instead of their home-grown Ajax-system. Thats the academy of a big German bank.
