hi folks,
i have a design biz (www.inkwire.net) and i’m beginning a switch over from textpattern for my personal sites (for now, until i’m comfy enough with modx to use it exclusively). so far so good - i LOVED these ease of install. i generally have very little idea of what i’m doing, however, and making my home page (www.arphaus.com) into a simple splash page took some doing. i have no idea how to get to the default page, but that’ll come with time.
in any case, what attracted me to modx is the web 2.0 action, and the potential. now it seems that a knowledge of php would be a huge help (i’d love to try to create my own modules). have y’all got any recommendations for books to learn php?
thanks, and i look forward to learning & contributing.

I learned from the tons of excellent articles and tutorials on the Web. I can recommend digging through the articles and tutorials on these sites:

http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/opensource/library/os-php-read/

thanks for the recommendations!

i’m looking forward to it. eventually, i’d like to do the necessary programming for websites that we will have to outsource for the time being.

You’ll love MODx.
I had been a long time Textpattern user when I came to this community and software and coming from textpattern you’ll learn quicker the logic of MODx. For more details, check this thread :
