file upload, email notification and file access

I am in need of pointers on how to start this project.

I have a restricted area of the site where authorised web users can upload files (word / txt or rtf most likely).
I then need one or maybe two manager users to automatically receive an email that notifies them of the file upload and then be able to open the file and paste the contents, or a selection of the contents, on to the web page.
These two manager users would only have access to this part of the site and not general access.

Any pointers on what modules / plugins / snippets I should be using to achieve this would be most welcome.

Check out eForm. It seems to be widely regarded as the tool to use for forms. http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/EForm

It’s been a long time since I used it, and even then I didn’t get too in depth, so I’m afraid I can’t help anymore except to point you in that direction.

Yes, this could be done with eForm, but for such a small, specialized use I would set up my own form using JQuery, AJAX and the uploadifier JQuery plugin. If you use a MODx snippet for the AJAX processing code, and a resource with no template and no other content but the snippet call, it’s easy to process AJAX requests. Move the file, then generate the email data, mail it off and return an acknowledgment response from the snippet all at the same time. Just use the resource’s URL for the AJAX request.
