Hi, I’m new here (and to CMSes) and I wanted to say "hi." laugh My real name’s Rick and I just started using MODx, and I’m trying to decide if it’s right for my website. Basically, this entire time I’ve been trying to build and update my website with Dreamweaver, which has been all good, but it’s like hell trying to change the layout of a 400+ page site, and I’m wondering if a CMS is right for me. I’ve tried so many... e107, Mambo, Drupal, TYPO3, Wordpress and others... some seem really complicated, others just... I don’t like. tongue

I was *almost* going to settle for WP, but I decided to take another lookfor a good CMS that might be better... I’m happy I did! I managed to find MODx from CMS Matrix, and I’m like "what the hell, let’s give it a try!" So I installed it... quick and easy install. The admin section is incredibly nifty and intuitive, and although I’m not a pro at this stuff, it was easy enough for me to use and navigate around. I installed a couple of plugins/snippets in a snap, and changing the layout and everything is so... simple. smiley I feel like I could just jump into PS, slice up a layout, add in some tags and be all set. You guys have done a great thing here, keep it up!

I love using CSS and XHTML, and I’m decent with PHP and JavaScript, so I’m looking forward to maybe making some snippets or plugins eventually. laugh
Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

      Welcome to the family!

As an inveterate hacker, I really like MODx because it doesn’t put any limits on what I can do with it/to it. I’ve hacked the core, both front-end and back end, and it was pretty easy; and now with plugins and modules I don’t even have to do that. The only limitations I’ve run into are those in my own knowlege and experience, and MODx makes it really easy (and fun!) to expand both.
