In the middle of my last project I ecountered MODx, and so this projekt has become a marriage of the YAML CSS Framework by Dirk Jesse (www.yaml.com) and in some parts MODx.

We are in now beta-testing [edit: online], it’s a local car dealer site in Bavaria: www.mascher-noder.de - and I appreciate your comments on the site. cool

What I liked from the beginning was that it was straight clear and no hazzle seemlessly combining some static pages with dynamic pages created by MODx. It’s a very smooth and elegant model of modules working together, kind of killer code. I tried to ask some questions how to do that best with Joomla in their forum, but they even seemed not to understand what I was willing to achieve.

For the next project, a local portal site with a lot of database contents, I think I will start off with MODx from the ground.

I hope that the MODx will stay slim, fast and straight in the next releases, and I will count time then in terms of before MODx (B.Mx) and after MODx (A.Mx) smiley Thanks to the developprers and good luck.

Great stuff; this is exactly the kind of MODx usage I’ve been waiting to see! Cheers hgw, and I love the pull-up menus -- very cool stuff.

And regarding MODx staying trim, well, all I can say is stay tuned. I may have found a way to reduce the core code base of MODx to about 250kb of total code (not including manager pages, rich text editors and other add-ons/extras that come with the core) for the 1.0 release.

Keep up the great work and keep us posted on your future projects!

Heh. My old PowerBook has been acting flaky lately, and is fading fast. Now it seems to have started making a funny high-pitched peeping noise when I move the mouse! Oh, wait...it’s a Flash menu.

Very nice website, though I am not much in favor of Flash menus it renders very nice !

About YAML, the link posted above doesn’t work, it’s http://www.yaml.de/
              Unfortunately, my deutsch sucks...

Here is the question : by CSS framework, do you mean YAML is similar to Shaun Inman css framework, e.g server side CSS ?

It’s something that MODx has built-in capability for, but right now we lack snippets to use in the context of a CSS document (hint, hint, for you devs tongue !)

Not really, YAML just has a horrendously complicated set of CSS files that include each other (or not) to give you the option of moving columns around. I used it for my personal site, but find it a bit much to deal with. I prefer a simple source-ordered system, with specific css files for specific layout choices. Lately I’ve been converting all my templates to this method, and having much less in the way of cross-browser problems.
