a local sports team has a website that I’ve been maintaining gratis for several years now.
they’ve finally gotten to the point where they’re communicating with me and letting me know what features/functions they’d like to see (yay!! finally!)
I’m almost ready to pull the trigger and implement modx - BUT!
I need to make sure the team’s admin lady can easily log on and create a new news article/blog post/whatever. Part of what they want is the ability to add/update pages themselves. I’ve logged into the demo backend, and I think I’ll be just fine maintaining pages, but I’m not sure about their non-technical/computer-phobe users....
How easy is it for a non-techie user to log into a site, and be able to quickly and easily see how to create a new page/blog post, or edit an existing one?
thanks

With QuickManager you can let them edit and create pages in specified areas of the site from the front-end. You can set their user to go to a front-end page on login, and not be able to access the manager. You can configure QM to not be available on specified pages for given roles, so they can only edit/create in their own areas. You can customize the QM menu bar. Jot makes a nice front-end manager for simple listings, like events or sponsors. That’s probably all you would ever need for them.
I’ve had very naive users learn to create and edit pages in the MODx Manager with very little trouble. I sent them an email explaining how to do it they’ve been doing fine ever since. Occasionally, they run into trouble with the RTE and I have to go in and fix things but it seldom happens (unless they paste from Word

).

With Evo, it’s also very simple to add help to the default manager help; just put in more files in the assets/templates/help directory. Each file will get its own tab in the main help section. The number (01, 02, etc) prepending the file name indicates the order of the tabs. Underlines in the file name will be converted to spaces in the tab. Take a look at the existing file to see how to structure yours to match. I usually have screenshots; you could even load in video if you wanted to.
