My partner wanted a simple gallery where he could upload images, have 9 or 12 images to a page, and print the pages nicely. So I used ScottyDelicious’s MiniGallery 3 with Lightbox. I set up a base document "Gallery" and used a DropMenu to have a map of the gallery (yes, it needs work on the css). Then I created a folder with the [[MiniGallery?display=`childgalleries`]] for each gallery. Child documents are named Page One, Page Two, etc, and just call [[MiniGallery]]. I made up two css files, one for screen and one for print. The template is extremely simple, and the print css just uses display:none for the menus and other elements I don’t want printed.

It’s very easy to add more galleries; just "duplicate" one of the existing galleries (along with all its children) and edit the duplicated pages’ names and aliases.

I would load one of the galleries by default, so there’s not so much green space on entrance.
And put the menu in a header or footer, where you can see it all the time.
Something about the navigation is a little hard to use, it’s not logical what’s going to open where, and how to get back.

Have you considered MaxiGallery for portable art book? It has many more customizeable options.
