This is my first post on this board. Just dropping in to say hello, lurk a while, and understand the forums a bit.

MODx looks promising, and testing it as we speak. Oh, and this site layout looks great, btw.

I am very interested in this forum skin too... I really, really like it.

I will do that. This site is really, really nicely done.

I have been waiting for a fully XHTML compliant CMS for a really, really long time, and hopefully this is what I have been waiting for. Testing and reading the manual should help in that regard...

        One question, is this GPL’d?

Yes. But if you want to remove MODx copyright at the bottom of our expensive themes it will cost you $2500 per site, plus 5.3% of all sales made on your website. If you intend to post your CV on your site, we will take 9% of all your future salaries for a period of no less than 5 years. Of course, you can remove all these limitations by a small fee of $100 000 (minus 2.3% if you pay cash)
Welcome to MODx, you and your checkbook !!!

Of course it is GPL and fully free  ;D

GPL does not mean free as in do whatever you want with it. PHPbb and PHPNuke are good examples of retaining copyright notices in the footer which is alright with me, because after all, I did not write it. The only reason I like GPL is the ability to tweak code, use it, use it on as many servers as I want, and collaborate as much as I want without the restrictions of many commercial apps.

This may well go into a license debate, and everything has its upsides and downsides.

So no, I am not the type to insist on removing copyright notices or saying I did something when I did not.

LOL ... as far as I’m concerned you can do pretty much anything you wish with the software. The point is, we’re not going to threaten any silly actions for copyright or other IP violations. We have much, much better things to do with our time. Like make better software.

We DO prefer you give credit where credit is due. It will certainly go a long ways towards getting support here, but we aren’t forcing any ultimately (monetarily) unenforceable copyright stuff down anyone’s throat. The folks that are gonna take our work and pass it off as their own are going to do it anyway in reality. So why worry?

I guess we’re hoping that folks will do the right thing. We’re focusing on the positive and have neither the desire, inclination or time, to police our users.
