    Hi guys,

Wondering if I can get some advice, I’m building a site for a client that needs a private area to show their own work to their clients.

I was thinking of a simple structure like so and using WebloginPE:

    Client Login
    -- Client 1
    ---- Job 1
    ------ Item 1
    ---- Job 2
    ------ Item 1
    -- Client 2
    ---- Job 1
    ------ Item 1
    ---- Job 2
    ------ Item 1

This would be fairly simple to operate, add a new client/job/bit of work is as simple as adding a new page with the correct template. Then the work and jobs would be aggregated using ditto. However adding users seems to be a different situation all together.

The workflow for adding a new user involves creating the user, creating a user group, assigning the user to the group, limiting the page to the correct group then if I want the user to be redirected automatically on login I need to add the ID of the new pages to WebloginPE’s onLogin parameter.

I can’t help but think there must be a better way... Have I missed any good add-ons? I don’t need user profiles or anything complex just a page per client that can be easily created by a particularly un-web-savvy person.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you don’t want to go through the usual procedure of creating groups and users, you’ll need to develop your own snippet or module.

Actually, I’m getting ready to do something similar on a site I’m developing; when a user fills out a form (using eForm) I’ll have a custom snippet/function using one of eForm’s events to create a user, add him to a group, and have him be blocked until the application on the form is approved. The exact approval process is still not completely worked out, but I’m thinking a link in the eForm report email would direct to a management page for approving/disapproving/removing registrants.

          Thanks Susan,

I switched to WebLogin in the end (rather than the PE version) so I could ditch the onLogin step and use the Login Home Page field instead. Then when I wrote down the process it didn’t seem quite as complex as I had thought, especially in comparison to writing a snippet which is somewhat out of my skill set....
