I’m looking for a Modx Ajax Search developer guru to code an advanced live ajax search and live filter for a newly created modx site.

Here is the original post that I wrote in the AjaxSearch forum: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,37709.0.html . I thought it may be too big job just to post in the forum so I need to hire some help!

    Start date: 1-2 weeks
Time: 2-5 days estimate (I’m speculating here, will need estimate from developer)
Cost: A fair price will be agreed on, but will need a solid quote. 20% deposit to get the ball rolling.
Payment method: paypal, cash, any method you would like. Will need an invoice for payment.

    The Brief:

    Task 1a: Sitewide Live Search
I have a modx site which has several containers (categories) with records within them. To display the records on a normal page I use Ditto calls. Each record has a TV with multiple tags assigned to them. I would like to be able to have a live ajax search box that would search these categories and then output the results in a floating div below the search textbox. This is easily achieved with the excellent AjaxSearch module, but the difference is I would like a couple of results from each category for which there are hits. Basically this mimics the search in the top right of www.apple.com. This would search site wide and only search in the titles of documents, metadata and the tags assigned to them (although this should be configurable). If the results aren’t satisfactory then there would be a "view more search results" button at the bottom of the div and the search would load a new page displaying...

Task 1a: Sitewide Live Search with categories
This is the same as Task 2, but with the ability to search several categories and display them on one page, divided into their categories. Once again, this mimics the apple.com search page: http://www.apple.com/search/?q=ipod . There would be checkboxes that turns categories on and off and the textbox on this page would perform a sitewide word search. Read below so that this becomes clearer!

Task 2: Live filtering combined with live search
I have a product page that has a list of approx 80 products. At the moment, all 80 products are displayed on the product page using Ditto. Each product has several tags applied to them which are in a TV. I would like to have checkboxes that you can check on and off which will filter the results by the tags alone. This would filter the 80 products on the page down to say, 20 items using ajax, no page reloading. You should be able to tick on and off multiple checkboxes and have the results reflected in realtime. I would also like to have a live ajax search textbox that would also do a word search within the title and summary, combined with the checkboxes if any are ticked.. It would need to have the following features:

    • Indicator showing that the results are loading
    • A number that shows the user how many results are filtered (ie, "Showing 20 out of 80 products") This would also need to be updated using ajax.
This page would need to be reusable across the site, for different categories such as an employee search filterable by department, office location (both will be tags within a tv), with the textbox searching peoples names. Ideally, it would be an ajax call that would load a ditto call into a div with different parameters according to which checkboxes are checked and what characters are written in the ajax textbox. It would need to be written so that designers/newly-inducted-developers could reuse the code all over the site for different areas. All results would have to use chunks with placeholders like ditto does so the results can be styled. All textboxes will be live such as: http://www.modx.wangba.fr/index.php?id=241

    Conclusion
We have just been using MODx for about 2 weeks now. Let me know if anyone would like more information about any of the above. I have graphical mockups of how I want these to work and can explain more thoroughly for anyone who would like to enquire about this job. I will be on the road for the next week (thus the 1-2 weeks estimated start time) but will have my phone with me so will post back to the forum regularly with answers to any questions, or you can email me at alexleeblack (at) gmail.com .

Thanks very much for your time.

    Alex.
