Unfortunately I’m so short on time I can’t investigate the pros/cons of Revo as used in the capacity of a (paid) subscription-based membership site. I’m thinking of going with CodeIgniter, but gosh I’d much rather stay home if you know what I mean. It won’t be an enterprise-scale site by any means, but it will have global reach.

IF yes, would I be reasonably safe deploying RC2? I have coding skills and am capable of squashing bugs on my own, but I value community opinion more than my own judgment in this case.

We would much rather you stay home too. Perhaps if you expressed some of your main concerns more explicitly we could address those, but my gut reaction is to tell you build it in Revolution. Your biggest challenge will be coding the subscription-payment/enablement code, but the framework is there for you to do it. We’ve built several subscription-based sites to order with Revolution already, so it is definitely doable.

I think the main question is would RC2 be a viable solution for a production website. In my use it seams to be a stable option with a ton of room to grow. The best example I can give you for just how stable would be the MODx website is powered by it and has been for some time now.

The main thing to note is it’s still in development so there may still be bugs with it, but this is the case with everything no?

I think it is stable enough... MODx has been running on it for a while
and RC3 is around the corner, literally. GA cannot be that far behind!!

If it’s not suitable for a membership site, I’m going down with it too :p

Although I’m not (yet) working with paid subscriptions or whatever, I have faith in Revolution pulling off exactly that what you want it to do... even in RC2.

Just gotta be tech-savvy enough to work it out on your own (and share your findings with the world!) as the docs are still quite poor.

Thanks for the feedback on Revo. Between my gut instinct and everyone’s feedback, I will be recommending it as the framework for this project.

As far as contributing, well I did submit a signed CLA agreement which was never acknowledged, so my contributions will only be available through forum posts undecided

                Mike,

We got your CLA. I don’t think when you sent it, you said *why* you sent it, so we werent sure what steps to take from there. Were you wanting to help with docs? Let me know and we’ll get you started.

We’ll also be setting up some more formalized processes for CLA submission and contributions here soon, that will make it easier to help contribute. Just working out all the details and kinks.

                Thanks guys.
