    modxmembership bridge to amember script

I would like to see a bridge/integration built to the amember membership software.

Amember - from amember.com - is a script that works very well and has integrations to many payment processors.

So rather than develop everything from the ground up - which I would like, but is beyond my budget - I would like to make a combination.

Amember has different ways of protecting content, one of them using php_include, another is mod-rewrite. I would think that allows for easy bridging...

I have tried integrating it to modx, and made a small snippet, that can be set to protect a page. The protection works, but I can not get through to the content, so somehow I am missing the point.

I know there is an amember plugin that writes new amember subscriptions to the webuser groups of modx, I know because I asked amember to develop that. That works to some extent, but leaves me with two member databases.

So this is what I would like:
    - modx module or plugin or snippet that allows to show the teaser-introduction of a protected page, then asks for a login
    - modx module/plugin/snippet calls upon amember script for access control (this is native in amember) login or register
    - modx module/plugin/snippet allows member to protected content upon succesfull login
    - modx TV + template to specify which amember product is connected to each page
    - modx TV and template to connect to timebased acces to content plugin from amember.

The bridge just bridges to amember, amember has the logic already in place to drip feed content, etc. etc.

Hope this explains it clear enough.

Looking forward to seeing this come alive.

I have looked into this recently using the php-include method. But I am getting a fatal php error which I think is because I am working with the free demo version of aMember...since this version is encoded i cannot spot the line of code that gives the error. From reading in the aMember forum it seems that this may indeed be related tot he demo version. Are you using the demo version or the official version?

If you are getting the blank page (no content) then look in your php-error log and I bet you will see an error like:

PHP Fatal error:  Call to a member function escape() on a non-object in /Users/S2M2/path/to/amember/plugins/protect/php_include/bruteforce.inc.php on line 85

According to all the documentation it should be working which is why I believe that it is related or to my aMember setup or it is from the demo version.

Also, there is a commercial plugin available to sync MODx with aMember that has a good review in the forum...but I could not get it to work with the demo version as well.

I use the official version and still it does not work.

I know about the amember modx plugin within amember, I paid for amember to develop it, but all it does is add the users of amember to the webuser groups in modx, which is pretty lame compared to what can be done with amember.

For one, think dripfeeding content on a time based schedule from date of signup.

If no one can do it here I’ll just post it on elance and get it done through them.

          thanks for replies

I don’t think they have anything to do with that; that’s their hosting default index.html page.

I think it is related to a var conflict...amember uses a the $db var which is used in the modx document parser (I think...as well as in many other scripts). I posted this in the amember forum if you want to follow:

                http://www.amember.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10236

                Any ideas to fix this?
