    I’ve written a MODxIntegration plugin for Wordpress
    This sounds cool, I would like to have this available in some cases.
    As for mollom, I agree that the first step is a class for developers to integrate at will. OK, now who will volunteer to do it? tongue

      I’ve done this the other way around - I’ve written a MODxIntegration plugin for Wordpress. This allows you to run MODx snippets and parse chunks from inside a Wordpress template. This in turn allows you to easily create a Wordpress theme that matches the rest of your MODx site and seamlessly integrates on the frontend.

      This allows you to use Wordpess for what it’s good at - blogging (including akismet and any other Wordpress plugins you like) in that part of the site, and MODx for what it’s good at - i.e. everything else!

      My site (http://www.codeistry.com/) is using this at the moment: the whole site is MODx, except the /blog section which is pure Wordpress, using my MODxIntegration plugin and a custom Codeistry theme.

      I’m about to deploy this for a client as well and I’d be happy to help you out if you want to use it. When I get chance, I’ll be tidying this up and releasing it to the community & repository etc... but I doubt that will be for a week or two, as I’m pretty busy at the moment.

      Sound like this would be any use to you?

      It sounds great. I’ve always wondered if we’re reinventing the wheel trying to get MODx to have all the blogging power of WP (though that discussion should probably have it’s own thread). It would be a fantastic addition to the repository. smiley

        I’ve kind of started on it, but will be glad to back off if someone else wants to do it. There’s a PHP Mollom class out there already that requires PHP5 and cURL. I think we need something that will work on PHP4 and without cURL. I’m thinking of developing a class that will use a generic HTTP client from PHP Classes that will use either cURL or sockets depending on what’s available, although that will mean carrying some extra baggage.

        The Mollom API looks fairly straightforward (famous last words wink ). The only think that worries me is that making it PHP4-compatible means no try/catch stuff. I’m hoping that’s not fatal.

        Once we have a class, it shouldn’t be too hard to integrate it into SPForm, eForm, and hopefully jot (yeah, right wink).

        I’m thinking a plugin with one or more custom system events (like in WLPE).

            @BobRay,

            What do you think of starting with the php5 only class as they’ve made it. Then making it php4 / non-CURL compatible as a 1.5? It would get use started faster and help you learn the API first.

              I thought about it and may do it yet, but I think I could do a generic version faster than I could convert that one and I don’t think it will take all that long (though I could be wrong). The API is very well documented. The PHP5 version requires that you keep the copyright in the author’s name even if you modify it. Maybe it’s just me, but I always dislike having someone else hold the copyright to my code unless I’m just making minor mods. wink
