    Hello MODx’ers!

I recently launched a product distribution company and need a way to allow people to order products from me. The company website is built on MODx, so I’m looking here for an e-commerce solution.

I do not sell at retail to the general public. I sell at wholesale to businesses, so I can’t just allow anyone to see or order from my "store". I expect the actual store component to be fairly typical, but I’d like to implement some kind of "gauntlet" sign-up process that results in a password protected account that the customer will then use to access the store. It will be important that the store allow use of a variety of payment methods (PayPal, credit card, net terms), and it would be fantastic if it integrated with QuickBooks. It would also be great if the store could manage inventory, or maybe have integration with QuickBooks for that as well.

I’ve read some of the forum posts regarding KiweeCommerce, FoxyCart, Treasure Chest, and OpenCart. I’d say Treasure Chest is out because it’s PayPal only, but I’m open to any suggestions, whether in the previous list or not. I have not signed a contract for a payment gateway so I am flexible in that regard.

I realize that MODx already has a user account mechanism, so this project may amount to an assisted implementation of existing resources.

As far as the items in the posting requirements for this forum:

    Anticipated start time: Immediately
Anticipated job duration: I need the solution to be working by Feb 13, but ASAP would be the preferred pace. Until I have a working store, my only method of accepting orders is via fax or phone.
Budget constraints: I don’t have a perspective on the budget for this kind of work, but I’m pretty sure I’ll need to use and modify if necessary an existing product.
Payment terms: Depending on the scope of work, we can either pay in full upon completion or create a staged payment arrangement.
Scope of work: As described above.
IP ownership constraints (e.g., can the work be donated back to the community): Any work done that is generic in nature (does not expose my user accounts/specifics, can be applied to other implementations) will be given to the MODx community. I appreciate that the community has given me a framework for my site and I’m happy to give back.

Please let me know if any additional information will help. I’m looking forward to getting this underway.

    Regards,

    Chris
