    Little off-topic but...
Good point, and I agree about the delay issue. Maybe this is why I dislike dropdown menus in general, they are a pain to deal with as a user.

Good point Doze, +1 on using JS to improve a CSS menu but no way I’ll have a full JS menu which won’t degrade or work with JS off.

Anyway, dropmenus are not my favorite and I like to try getting creative and find alternative solutions. But you don’t always have the choice, sometimes the client ask for it, sometimes the information is so dense you have to suffer a multi-level dropmenu undecided

Yep, well some still think an animated dropdown menu is the latest thing in town tongue

Luckily we have some industry leaders (Google, 37signals...etc) and influential authors (Zeldman, Meyer...) redefining what’s cool. It helps having those examples handy when you explain that the most important principle to keep in mind is to build with the users in mind, not the technology and more often than not simplicity sells more than sugar coating. But sometimes it’s not enough undecided

If they pay for the sugar coating, they’ll get truckloads of sugar smiley

It’s funny to see some over-the-top ultra-cool sites being completely redesigned 6-12 months after their (expensive) launch - that is, once the client realizes what’s important and what not smiley
I’ve seen this with lots of Flash-only sites, or other gimmick-anomalies, over the years.
