I’ve been using Coranto since the old NewsPro days, but my website (www.gamebanshee.com) has really outgrown it over the years. After browsing the CMS scene for quite awhile, I believe MODx has everything I need.
GameBanshee went live in mid-2000 and over the years I’ve added around 25,000 news items with Coranto. These news items are generally assigned to one or more of my featured games via categories (check out the games under the Banshee Network dropdown for examples), which causes them to show up on both my homepage and the game-specific subsite. I also use vBulletin and have used a Coranto add-on that inserts all new news items into a vBulletin forum for commenting purposes.
I’m already overloaded with other work, so I’m hoping to hire someone who can configure MODx to work in a similar fashion as my current Coranto installation (with comments through vBulletin) and then import all 25,000+ Coranto news items into MODx. It’s worth noting, however, that my Coranto database became corrupted in March of 2003 and all news items prior to that are no longer in my Coranto database. They are still in my vBulletin forum, though, and could be imported from there. Any news after March of 2003 could be imported from Coranto’s database.
To be honest, I really don’t know how much work this would entail so I can’t speculate as to what sort of price range I’d be looking at. If anyone is interested, I’d appreciate it if you could just shoot me a dollar amount and we can talk about it from there. Thanks!
If vBulletin has an API, it certainly would be possible to create modx-pages dynamically.
But 25k docs is far too much for MODx at this point.
But regardless of efficiency: I wonder why you duplicate all the forum news. Isn’t it sufficient when it’s already in the forum?
So MODx wouldn’t reasonably support that many news items and retain the ability to add more for years to come?
All news items are inserted into the forum for comments only. There’s no easy way for me to create summaries or break each news item down into categories and assign them to the different games I cover from inside vBulletin, so I really need a CMS frontend.
