I have a small web consultancy and quite often require MODx (and add-ins) installed, configured and customised for clients. I have been working with one developer from these forums for nearly one year now and their assistance with numerous small projects has been invaluable. However, things are getting much busier in 2008 and I will need to distribute work to more than one developer to meet client deadlines in the coming weeks and months.

These projects typically involve the following tasks:

    • MODx installation (via cPanel/FTP/SSH)
    • Basic configuration
    • Integration of pre-designed valid HTML/CSS web template(s), including navigation using WayFinder, etc.
    • Configuration of simple features like search, news, articles, etc., using the relevant snippets and add-ins
    • Some custom PHP development; e.g., changes to existing snippets/plugins
    • Some shopping cart integration (looking at using FoxyCart for upcoming projects)
    • Some customisation of manager interface

Most of these jobs do not require advanced PHP coding or customisation of code. The main requirement is to make good use of the flexibility of MODx - TVs, chunks, snippets and add-ins - to customise sites.

    Desirable Skills:

    • Server: Linux/Apache/cPanel - basic competence
    • Backend: MySQL/PHP - basic competence
    • Backend: MODx and add-ins - expert
    • Frontend: XHTML/CSS, including cross-browser compatibility - competent
    • Other: JS/XML/AJAX - some experience would be good

For small projects, payment terms are usually 50% deposit and 50% on completion via PayPal. I provide a project brief and the contractor supplies a fixed-cost quote for the work involved. Any work requested that falls outside the scope of the initial brief/quote would justify an additional charge.

Please get in touch if you are interested in taking on these types of small projects on an ad-hoc basis.

If you could please supply some details of recent experience with relevant projects, including any URLs or references, that would be great.

    Thanks,
    Anton

Thanks to those who have responded. However, it seems that most people are busy and not necessarily available to take on work in the very near future.

I do have a few projects that will be commencing shortly, and would still like to hear from anyone available to take on the sort of work described in the post above, within the next few weeks. These are mostly small-to-medium size jobs which need to be completed within reasonably tight time frames.

      Thanks,
      Anton

I have received a few more replies and this should be enough for the moment. Thanks again to all who responded.

        Regards,
        Anton
