This forum for MODX needs a better search feature

The top request I have is that searches can be sorted by Date. Now that there is REVO and EVO at a minimum search results should be available to be sorted by date.

For now I use Google to search the forums:

I don’t think that can easily be fixed - or this would’ve been done years ago

Google indexes the forums quite aggresively, so I personally think Google should be fine.

It isn’t easy to improve the delivered search. But you can integrate a google custom search form so users can use dierectly… this would be great!

Is there any tool except "google custom search" which allows visitors to search on a website and which can be recommended and easily implemented?

We are looking for such a tool at the moment for our website comprising ~700 pages.

Would be great if anybody can recommend such a tool...

If your site runs MODX you can check out AjaxSearch for Evolution or SimpleSearch for revolution. I’ve not yet worked with the latter, but I think their results are pretty accurate.

We think the search in the forums sucks too. We’re migrating to a new platform in the coming weeks and it will most likely use Sphinx as the search engine so we can actually get some decent results for once!
