    hi,

i know this is a wishlist, not a dream one smiley but nevermind, testing and testing again, i must say, modx evo is really the one and the only... (would sure be revo if it were not for xml i’m quite allergic too smiley)

the only thing i’m cruelly missing is a native multi language management (something like ionize cms language management would be awesome...)

now, i know the amount of work this would represent and well, it exists may workarounds for this, this way just my wish day after the joy of getting evo 1.05

:) well susan, not exactly tangled as i’m quite used to xml having to work with flash guys to whom i deliver their information in xml...

now, to be honest, i really don’t like xml... smiley i feel it unreadable, heavy, ugly to say it all... i do share the opinion of the guys behind yii framework who converted all their xml things in prado into php arrays or objects.
i know that php xml parser is fare more advanced than the few available json parsing functions but i would have been so glad to see "all this" written in such an elegant way, jPDO would have been so great laugh

this being said, my personal website is made with revo :-D that’s to say that i don’t want to be to stubborn with this and i love modx too much to be stooped by that paleontological little detail smiley that doesn’t prevent me from wishing (dreaming about) that native multilingual feature in Evo.
Now if such a feature (something like ionize cms language management) appeared in Revo, well, champagne of course ! smiley

Only problem with that is that multilanguage is going to add a lot of overhead both in processing and in file footprint, and I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of MODx sites don’t use multiple languages. I find YAMS to be a very successful add-on; it just needs somebody or a team to adopt it and continue with its development. I also think that the new custom TV feature in 1.0.5 will have a large impact on the subject once everybody gets used to the idea.

              hi Susan,

you’re right, so far, the easiest way i’ve found out to deal with multi language is to use TVs (one of those things/concept that make MODx totally awesome...) and a snippet to siwtch from one to another. I’ll dig a bit into their new 1.05 features to see how farther i can go with them.

the only thing that makes a bit difficult to deal with is consistancy with search engine result, i still haven’t found the right way to have it, i.e, exclude content and french content TVs when searching in the english part and the opposite when searching in the French one but i’m working on it.

You’re right too, it’s possible that a native multi language feature may be something most MODx website wouldn’t use... because their websites are in English.
The point is, being french as you may have guessed reading my pidgin english smiley i can say that, most of my professional websites tend to be multilingual in order to be translated into... english smiley
multi language feature is probably something mostly non native English speakers are interested in and you know what, let’s spread MODx around the world laugh
