I can confirm the behavior, because my client first pointed it out, and I was able to reproduce it. However, it seems I can’t reproduce it now.
I thought all I needed to do was this:
1. Write any text
2. Highlight all or part of the text.
3. Click "link"
4. Fill in whatever URI you like.
5. Hit "Save"
So it must be some other condition that causes whatever conflict required to create the error. One thing I do notice that is slightly annoying, however, is that if I’m editing a document has been previously saved, and I create a link by following the above steps, the "Save" button remains disabled. I’m forced to adjust something else in order to save. This should definitely be corrected.
****** Figured out the original bug conditions ******
As I was writing the above, I remembered that the links my client was creating were to the homepage. He didn’t type "/" as the HREF (as most clients won’t, since they are usually only dimly aware of relative linking). TinyMCE seems to be configured to remove absolute URIs in order to create relative links inside the document. Is this necessary for any reason? When a client enters "
http://my-website-address.com" the entire text is removed! The editor then sees there is no value for the link and removes the A element from the document.
