    Hi,

what I would also love to see, is a store locator plugin, based on Google Maps of course.

    You would need to

    • install the addon and insert the data for all the stores (addresses, zipcodes etc.)
    • use a snippet for the front-end, which would display the Google Map and a search form and search results when the form has been used.

That would be an awesome addition!

I’m no programmer, but perhaps this article can be of help?

      http://code.google.com/intl/nl-NL/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlsearch.html

Again, an add-on like that would be an awesome addition.

I’m doing some work on that Google Store Locator.
It might be a few days or more.
I’ve got a basic front end snippet working, sort of, but it needs some more work.
Then there’s managing the store data in the back end.

          That’s absolutely awesome news, thanks!

I’m very grateful. I got a few tips usability-wise, if you don’t mind.

          - it would be great to define the width and height of the Google Map with a few snippet parameters
          - what also would be neat, is a template with which you can edit the HTML code of the search results
          - same goes for the search form itself, of course.

But again... many thanks from Holland!

That’s done in the html on the page.

Not going to be feasible as the html is generated via the JS.
What I’ve got so far is a <span> class for each field pulled from the DB.
This goes a long with the auto generation of all the fields from the DB into the JS with the ability to exclude any you don’t need for the map markers/sidebar, but might want for other purposes.
            - same goes for the search form itself, of course
Again done in the html on the page.
Here’s a couple of screen shots of slow progress!

              Thanks, it’s looking great already!

One last question though. Is it possible to put the search form on one page and the search results (including the map of course) on another page? I can imagine that people would like to have a small address search box (and nothing else) on the homepage, you know.

              Just wondering smiley.

Again, thanks for the great work!

                Probably, I’ll look into that.
I’m now wondering if it might be possible to have the marker & sidebar data/html rendered via a chunk, so I’ll do some more investigating on that also.
Then it’s the Manager module for stores database.

                  Hi,

I was wondering if there were any updates regarding this project. I still would love to see a proper store locator add-on for MODx. Would be awesome.

Paid work has got in the way for a couple of weeks. wink
I will carry on with the development soon.
                      Here’s a live demo.
So far I have the view & add entries working.
Still need to do the edit & delete and a few install checks.
I’ve tried to upload a couple of screen shots but i’m getting a folder full error!
                      I’ll try later.
