Wouldn’t it be cool that if you saved a template:
- The engine would check all chunks for existence, and if not ask to create them
- The engine would check all TVs for existence, give the template access to them and for the non-existing ask to create them?
- For all snippets / plug-ins check their existence, and fetch out possible typo’s?
Catch my drift? This would speed things up considerably for me.

That’s a cool idea. What about typos?

Maybe say "Snippet [[snippetName]] wasn’t found. Did you mean: (dropdown of all snippets) or create New Snippet"...
Most of this should be very easy to do with a plugin, especially in Revolution.
I don’t think it belongs in the core.

Yeah but having to download a package and install this would be a little too much, as it is pretty basic functionality. I think it would make the core a little bit more pleasant
.
Yeah but in Revolution, downloading and installing only takes a few clicks of the mouse.
This sounds like a great idea. I would personally prefer having this as a core feature as adding another package to my download list would only add to the require MODx install time. Packages are great however given the number I have to download to gain my default setup quickly consumes my available time. Especially as the number of site builds increase every month. 5 installs at 2minutes per package with roughly 5 packs per site 5x5x2=50minutes in package downloads. I wish we could have some packs installed by default with every MODx install, as we had with MODx EVO.

I believe that one of the first things to come out of the dev team once they’ve recovered from this protracted and difficult birth will be all kinds of documentation, tutorials and support utilities for creating custom "default" installations.

And hopefully, a book.
