Wordpress has a very cool feature that able us to add a simple photo gallery in some clicks. Creating a new post, we can add a photo or a "gallery" in a really easy way. We can select the photos and how them are shown to integrate in them post. The photos are shown using a lightbox. This feature is so usefull due to its simplicity. It do exactly what it is suposed to do, and it is simply and easy. It would be great to have this feature in MODx.

There are quite a number of snippets to do this for MODx. Most of them have front-end management features.

I refer to the way that has ( or had, I can see it in the new version... ) using the gallery shortcode [gallery]
I know there are many galleries, but I think no one is easy to use. Many users want to insert more than one photo at once in a new post/article/element, the easy way could be a button like "insert image", called "insert gallery", where the user can select multiple photos at once, and a simple gallery will be generated ( thumbnails wich open in a lightbox ).
In wordpress this feature is now the [gallery] shortcode ( write [gallery] in HTML editor, go again to normal view and... et voilá. before there was easier, with a button ).
Do you know something as this for MODx?

EDIT: The idea is something really simple, not a powerfull gallery. An easy way to attach some photos to a post.

If you don’t need more than ten or so images you could just use TV:s and make a new tab for them with ManagerManager. Then use either PhpThumb or DirectResize to make thumbs/lightbox links.

You are not thinking in editors and site administrators. Lets make it simply for them. Why create 10 Tv’s for 10 pics, use two 3rd party plugins, etc. if things can be easier ( but must be developed )???
The idea is the user could select some files via a flash uploader ( with the alternative html uploader ) and upload the selected files in one click. Once selected and uploaded, the gallery is automatically created...
The installation and maintenance will be easier for the site administrators, and the editor experience will be increased.
Little Things like that are what make a CMS different.
Another example of what I’m talking about is Google Wave, that has a simmilar feature.

I’ve been testing again the Google Wave gallery feature and it is great. The "problem" is it uses gears and html5, but the result is fantastic. You simply drag&drop your photos to the editor, and everything is generated ( styled thumbs, lightbox links... ). It would be great if MODx team consider to implement something like that, or something like wordpress gallery feature for simple gallerys ( 5-10 images into a post )

You could accomplish something like this with custom TV’s in Revo already. Wish granted!

                See:

                http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Adding+a+Custom+TV+Input+Type
                http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/Adding+a+Custom+TV+Output+Type

Here’s one that exemplifies how to use such custom TV’s. This example is for easily adding Google Maps, but it could literally be anything, like a ultra simple Gallery related to the Resource.

You could possibly accomplish similar with the plugins tied to the DocFormRender events in Evo.
